Has the moment not yet come?

“Ar-Rahman has taught the Qur’an, created man, instructed him to express clearly.” (Al-Qur’an 55:1-4)

Amidst plane crashes and flood crisis, Allah is reminding us again and again that our death awaits at our very doorsteps. No human being is immortal and none can escape the invincible death which will engulf everyone and everything save the existence of God Almighty, who is All-Knowing, most powerful, most beneficent and most merciful.

“That it is He who makes you happy and morose, and He who ordains death and life;… That it is He who makes you rich and contented;” (Al-Qur’an: Surah An-Najm)

We have to return to our Creator one day and no mortal knows his hour of death until it swoops down on him. Our deaths have already been recorded in a Book and we cannot avert it from happening.

“God knows your wanderings and your destination.” (Al-Qur’an 47:19)

But even though we all know that we have to die one day, we fail to strongly believe in it. We are reminded again and again. It affects us for a few moments, a few days maybe but then once again the hectic life of this world with all its glamour and attraction, wraps us in itself.

“…but then you let yourselves be tempted, and waited in expectation but were suspicious and were deceived by vain desires, till the decree of God come to pass, and the deceiver duped you in the respect of God.” (Al-Qur’an 57:14)

It is because we have come so far from the words of God, we have strayed so far from the Qur’an that our hearts have become insensitive to the talks of death. God reminds us again in Surah Hadeed:

“Has the moment not yet come when the hearts of the believers should be moved by the thought of God and the truth that has been sent down, so that they should not be like those who received the Book before them but whose hearts were hardened after a lapse of time, and many of them turned disobedient?” (Al-Qur’an 57:16)

So if you just forgot your final destination, here is a reminder. People across Pakistan are dying every day for lack of basic necessities of life. Someone on twitter tweeted that the only difference between you and the affected is that the flood did not reach your homes. How true! We are blessed by God who has protected us in our homes! We go about our daily routine never once thanking God for His blessings – one of which is being safe in these conditions.

“He is with you wheresoever you may be, and He perceives whatsoever you may do.” (Al-Qur’an 57:4)

Remember that this could have been you or me. Remember that you and I also have a pre-arranged hour of death. Please donate generously for the cause of God (how to donate) and if you cannot donate financially, please remember your fellow beings in your prayers. Pray for their health and safety, and pray for your health and safety and that may God keep us safe from His wrath. May God double and triple the reward of your deeds. Ameen.

“O you who believe, if you help (in the cause of) God, He will surely come to your aid, and firmly plant your feet.” (Al-Qur’an 47:7)
